If you ask five Kampala agencies for a website quote, you can get five very different numbers. This guide explains the ranges you will see in 2026, what you actually get at each level, and the questions that stop you from paying for the same website twice.

The short answer

Published price lists from Kampala web agencies in 2026 cluster in three bands:

Type of website Typical range What it usually includes
Basic business site UGX 0.5M to 1.5M 3 to 5 pages, contact form, template design
Conversion-focused business site UGX 1.5M to 5M Custom design, service pages, tracking, basic SEO
Online shop or web app UGX 2M to 7M and up Catalogue, checkout, Mobile Money, admin

Custom systems, such as a hotel booking and point-of-sale platform or a school management system, are usually quoted per project because the work depends on how your organisation runs.

Our own starting prices are on our pricing page, with an instant estimate.

What drives the price

1. Design: template or custom. A template is cheaper but looks like many other sites. Custom design costs more but can be built around how your customers decide.

2. Number of pages and who writes them. Each service page that targets a real search, such as “conference hall in Kampala”, is a chance to be found. Writing that content takes time, and many quotes assume you will supply it.

3. Features. Booking, payments, member logins and stock management turn a website into software. That is where costs rise fastest.

4. Hosting and care. A quote that includes the first year of hosting, SSL and the domain is not the same as one that does not. Ask what renewal costs after year one.

Five questions to ask before you pay

  1. Who owns the website and the domain when the project ends? Make sure the domain is registered in your company’s name.
  2. What happens after launch? Look for a warranty period for fixing bugs, and a clear price for updates.
  3. Can I edit content myself? If not, every small change becomes a support request.
  4. How will I know it is working? Ask for enquiry tracking: form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks, not just page views.
  5. Will it load fast on a phone on mobile data? Most of your visitors are on phones. Ask to see a speed test of a site they built.

Where cheap websites cost more

The cheapest option often becomes the most expensive one when the site has to be rebuilt within a year. Common reasons are slow loading, no way to edit content, forms that silently fail, or a developer who is no longer reachable. Paying a little more for a site you own, can edit, and can measure usually costs less over three years.
