Many stock spreadsheets store only a current quantity. When the number is wrong, nobody can tell why. We record stock as a ledger of movements, so every unit can be traced to a purchase, sale, transfer or adjustment, and to the person who made it.
The same system works for a single shop counter or several branches and a store. Staff roles limit who can give discounts, void sales or adjust stock, and a manager sees branch totals from a phone.
Our hotel system HMS includes a restaurant and bar POS with modifiers, voids, split bills and shift cash-up, and the Uganda Bookshop and Centenary Publishing House systems both keep inventory alongside online sales.
